Blue Tiger Butterfly Watercolour (Requires Framing) 15cm (W) x 32cm (H) x 0.1cm (D)
Watercolour (Requires Framing)
Signed on the front.
At the time of painting this picture the beautiful Blue Tiger Butterfly was in absolute abundance on the east coast Queensland, Australia caused by the higher than normal humidity. I was walking with the dogs in this gully where there were hundreds of them and lots of Grass trees (Xanthorrhoea) but only one of them seemed to be flowering and all the butterflies kept landing on it. The Blue tiger usually lives for 6 months as apposed to 1-2 weeks for most butterflies. The larvae feed on the Corky Milk vine whose toxins are passed on to the Butterfly & prevents birds from feeding on them as they get sick from the toxins.
